Shellharbour City Council is calling for community representatives for its various committees and working parties.

Community representatives’ term of appointment is up until October 2025, with meetings held as and when required.

These are voluntary unpaid positions and will be appointed by Council. Nominations are open until 4pm Friday 3 November 2023.

Shellharbour City Mayor Chris Homer encouraged interested people to apply and said becoming part of a Council committee or working party was a meaningful way to participate in civic life.

“These working parties and committees comprise Council staff, Councillors and community representatives who meet to discuss a range of community issues and Council projects.

“As a community representative, you will advocate and give a voice to people within the community by providing input and advice,” he said.

Community representation is being sought for the following groups:

•    Aboriginal Advisory Committee
•    Australia Day Advisory Committee
•    Coastal and Flood Risk Management Advisory Committee
•    Disability Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee
•    Shellharbour City Sports Assistance Advisory Committee
•    Aquatics and Active Recreation Working Party
•    Shellharbour Airport Operations Working Party 

Separate applications must be made if you intend to nominate for more than one committee or working party.

Written nominations including why you are interested in joining, what experience and skills you can bring and your contact details should be marked "Confidential Nomination" and sent to the Chief Executive Officer (Attention Corporate Meetings Officer) Shellharbour City Council, Locked Bag 155, Shellharbour City Centre NSW 2529.
