Graffiti

Graffiti is a crime that significantly affects the community, businesses and residents. Graffiti makes people feel unsafe and removal is costly to the community. Shellharbour Council take a zero tolerance approach to graffiti and adopts a rapid removal policy in order to reduce re-offending.

To report graffiti on Council property, call Council on 4221 6111 or online at e-services. More information on how to report an issue to us can be found here: Reporting local issues.

If you see graffiti in the community please ensure you report it via the NSW Graffiti Hotline on 1800 707 125.

Graffiti removal from private property is the responsibility of the property owner. This includes businesses, walls and fences that are adjacent to laneways, footpaths and reserves. As the property owner, it is essential you report all graffiti and malicous damage to the Police: Police Assistance Line on 131 444, Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at the NSW Police Force Community Portal.

Check out our Graffiti Fact Sheet for useful tips on graffiti management and removal.

Shellharbour Crime Prevention Partnership

The Shellharbour Crime Prevention Partnership is a joint strategy between NSW Police, Housing NSW, our Rangers and our Community Safety Officer to help reduce crime and fear of crime within our LGA. This monthly meeting focuses on all aspects of crime prevention including hot spots, early intervention, situational, social and developmental.

Safety Pop Up Meetings

In partnership with NSW Police, we conduct monthly Community Safety Pop Up meetings. The informal meetings are linked with Crime Prevention Partnership meetings, presenting valuable information about individual suburbs and offering more opportunities for residents to have personal contact with police and staff. Check out our events calendar and follow us on Facebook to find out the date of the next meeting.

To request a Community Safety Pop Up in your neighbourhood, reach out to our Community Safety Officer via email: council@shellharbour.nsw.gov.au or phone 4221 6111.
